Today’s cognitive scientists are more interested than ever before in the mental processes that underlie the way that we think and reason about our environment and ourselves. The study of Thinking and Reasoning studies the philosophical, cognitive and neural underpinnings of this unique ability and how they apply to performance and cognitive function.
This is a limited enrolment program. Students must have completed 4.0 credits and meet the requirements listed below to enrol.
Variable Minimum Grade Average
A minimum grade average in required courses is needed for entry, and this minimum changes each year depending on available spaces and the number of applicants. The following courses must be completed:
- COG100H1 and
- 0.5 credits in PHL and
- 0.5 credit in LIN, CSC, or PSY.
For reasons of limited capacity, applicants with a final grade average lower than 70% in these required courses will not be considered for admission. Please note that obtaining this minimum final grade average does not guarantee admission to the program.
Notes:
If more than 1.0 credits have been completed from LIN, CSC, PHL, or PSY, the grade average will be based on the higher course grades.
Due to the limited enrolment nature of this program students are strongly advised to apply in the first program request period.
Students are responsible for checking co- and prerequisites for all courses. Not all courses are offered on a regular basis. A list of approved Cognitive Science courses can be found on the website: https://www.uc.utoronto.ca/cognitive-science. For any questions, please email cognitive.science@utoronto.ca.
