This first-year foundation course will introduce students, within a small seminar setting, to some of the powerful and prominent narratives we hear in our culture that either help or hinder society in fostering pro-environmental behaviour. We will use the medium of film to explore some of these narratives. Through journal reflections, class discussions and guided critical thinking exercises, and a paper, students will develop a confidence in their understanding how narratives work within our culture to influence our thinking about the environment, our relationships with the land, waters, culture, and all life on the planet.
