ENV196H1: Environment, Culture and Film

36S

This first-year foundation course will introduce students, within a small seminar setting, to some of the powerful and prominent narratives we hear in our culture that either help or hinder society in fostering pro-environmental behaviour. We will use the medium of film to explore some of these narratives. Through journal reflections, class discussions and guided critical thinking exercises, and a paper, students will develop a confidence in their understanding how narratives work within our culture to influence our thinking about the environment, our relationships with the land, waters, culture, and all life on the planet. Restricted to first-year students. Not eligible for CR/NCR option.
