What does it take to thrive in university and beyond? This course explores the psychological science underlying personal growth, well-being, and academic success. Drawing on cognitive, social, and positive psychology, students examine evidence-based strategies for building habits, enhancing attention and memory, managing stress, improving sleep, and fostering motivation. In other words, students learn how to thrive (and not just survive) in university. The course emphasizes applied learning: students identify personal goals and integrate course principles into their daily lives through weekly reflections, small-group discussions, and a culminating creative project. Students also develop skills in critically evaluating popular psychology and self-help claims. By combining scientific insight with practical application, this course prepares students to thrive academically and personally, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and cultivate self-regulation and resilience.
