This course introduces students to cultural, social, intellectual, and political phenomena in the Italian-speaking world. Through the exploration of a variety of materials—such as literature, film, music, artifacts and other material objects, visual art, and new media—students acquire critical skills to discuss issues related to class, race, ability, gender and sexuality, regionalism, colonialism, and migration in modern Italy and Italian cultural contexts globally.
