SMC338H1
This course provides an overview of major political and social changes in Ireland, Wales, and Scotland from the eleventh through to the sixteenth century. The course is structured around the profound changes in the Celtic nations that accompanied the expansion of the Anglo-Normans into Celtic Britain and Ireland, concluding with the Tudor conquest at the cusp of the modern era. The course will be taught through documents reflecting the period’s political and social upheavals, with preference for writings from the Celtic nations’ native literature. All materials will be in English translation.
